Data Engineering Manager

Your role

We are looking for a Data Engineering Manager as part of our Customer Innovation group who will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of talented engineers. The team will be empowered and entrusted to work on acquiring, transforming, validating healthcare data and ensuring that customers have the products and data insights that will help make better decisions with patients, finance and operations.

As an Engineering Manager,  you will work closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists and Software Engineers to support building out a great platform for the future of healthcare computing. In this role, you'll see a direct impact on company growth, and customer satisfaction and impact on human lives. You'll work with some of the brightest minds in the industry, work with one of the richest healthcare data sets in the world, use cutting edge technology, and see your efforts affect products and people on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will have strong Data Infrastructure, Data Architecture, and Business Intelligence skills. A proven track record of leading and scaling data teams, strong operational skills to drive efficiency and speed, strong project management leadership, and a strong vision for how data can proactively be used to improve people's lives. 

 

A Day in the Life

  • Supervise and lead a team of data engineers
  • Direct and coordinate delivery,  operations, testing, releases, and support
  • Work closely with customers, partners, professional services, analytics, and other engineering groups for defining, designing, and delivering solutions
  • Own and drive technical projects and provide leadership to a group of engineers in an innovative and fast-paced environment
  • Implement and track delivery timelines and quality standards while providing responsive customer support
  • Aid in iteration planning, retrospectives, and devise effective delegation strategies for you and your teams.
  • Review code, write technical proposals and help your team grow by recruiting, training, and aiding in career progression plans.
  • Work closely with the customer innovation and platform engineering teams and contribute to ELT and Interoperability framework 
  • Standardize and optimize the acquisition, transformation, and publishing processes and tooling for healthcare data like Clinical, Claims, ADTs, Labs and more

 

What You Need

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong People Management, Technical Delivery and Operations Management and Stakeholder Management
  • Mentor, coach, grow, manage 8-10 people directly (onsite and/or offshore)
  • Experience in an Agile methodology
  • Experience in delivering Data Integration projects
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams - Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing and more
  • Customer Management
  • Experience in Data Engineering tools and technologies
    • Data warehousing technologies like Snowflake
    • Business Intelligence and Data Visualization tools like Power BI, Sisense, Tableau
  • US Healthcare knowledge 
    • Knowledge of common Healthcare-specific file formats: HL7, CCD, X12 etc
    • FHIR knowledge and prior implementation experience
    • Experience in healthcare data integration like Claims data, Clinical/EMR data and more
  • Experience in data analysis, transformation
    • Pro level SQL skills
    • ETL data using SQL, NoSQL data stores
    • Data inspection tools and creating mapping documents
    • Experience with scripting (Shell, Perl, Python)
  • Experience of data engineering in at least one cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • The ability to engage with both the business and technical teams of a client - to document and explain technical problems or concepts in a clear and concise way
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile environment.
  • Work through ambiguity
  • Passion for being the customer advocate and a technology ambassador.
  • Experience supporting customer incidents to resolution
