Data Scientist, Go-to-Market

Stripe builds the most powerful and flexible tools for running an internet business. We handle billions of dollars each year and enable millions of users around the world to scale faster and more efficiently by building their businesses on Stripe. More than half of US internet users have purchased something from a Stripe user in the past year.

With all this data, we’re looking for a talented data scientist to join the Sales and Marketing Data Science team to help us better understand our users, build better products, and optimize our operation. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with go-to-market and technical leaders to scale sales and marketing functions and to shape business strategy at the forefront of driving Stripe’s revenue and growth. You will have broad exposure across product, finance, and data science teams, solve challenging and ambiguous business problems, and operate in a dynamic, high-growth environment.  If you are data curious, excited about deriving insights from data, and motivated by having an impact on the business, we want to hear from you.

You will:

  • Innovate at the intersection of statistics, machine learning and economics to solve a broad range of problems, such as: predicting lifetime value and propensity to buy across Stripe’s portfolio of products; scoring and routing leads; optimizing paid media channels; forecasting performance metrics to set targets; measuring impact and return on investment through causal inference and experimentation; optimizing resource and headcount allocation.
  • Develop machine learning and statistical models end-to-end from ideation and research, to deployment to production using Stripe’s machine learning infrastructure, in partnership with other data scientists and data science engineers
  • Partner closely with sales, marketing, analytics, engineering and data science teams to influence business strategy, identify opportunities, build scalable solutions for critical problems, and evangelize the integration of data science products into systems, processes and decisions

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years experience working with and analyzing large data sets to solve problems
  • A PhD or MS in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Sciences, Economics, Engineering, CS)
  • Expert knowledge of Python and SQL
  • Prior experience with distributed tools (Scalding, Spark, Hadoop, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning and statistics
  • Experience working with multiple cross-functional teams to deliver results
  • The ability to communicate results clearly and a focus on driving impact
